Gravestone Size Limitations & Requirements

Effective August 1, 2009 the following requirements for gravestones at Marble
Park Cemetery in Milan, Michigan will apply:

1. All gravestones must be set on a foundation that will extend 2” beyond the edges of the gravestone. The purpose of this requirement is to prevent damage to gravestones during mowing of other routine maintenance.

2. Gravestones and bases for a single grave may not extend beyond a rectangular cube beginning at ground level that is 16”wide x 36’’long x 48’’ high.

3. Gravestone and bases for two or more graves may not extend beyond a rectangular cube beginning at ground level that is 16’’wide x 60’’ long x 48’’ high.

4. Any request for monuments exceeding these regulations must receive cemetery board approval. Also any monument material other than granite must receive Cemetery board approval.
